Nataliya Shalenna is an Associate Professor at the Department of International Security and Strategic Studies within the International Relations Faculty of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (Ukraine). Her academic roles include research and teaching, with a focus on EU integration challenges, migration, and national identity. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (2013) and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Groningen (2014) under the Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme.
Her research interests span topics such as the integration of Muslim refugees into European societies, EU peripheral countries' integration challenges, and Ukrainian national identity during crises. She has contributed to projects like the Erasmus+ KA2 initiative on Baltic-Black Sea connections and the Jean Monnet Network 'Linking to Europe at the Periphery.' In 2021, she established the Public Diplomacy Centre at her university, organizing academic events and coordinating studies on Europeanisation in Ukraine and Georgia through the ProEUCulture project.
Dr. Shalenna has participated in international teaching exchanges via Erasmus+ (METU, Turkey; University of Zagreb, Croatia) and actively engages in collaborative research on regional security and EU policy impacts.
