Natalie Williams is an Associate Professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. She holds a PhD from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (2012) and a Graduate Certificate in Management from the Australian National University (2018). Her academic roles include teaching composition, orchestration, and music theory at institutions such as the Australian National University and the University of Georgia.
Her research interests span post-tonal music theory, contemporary composition, orchestration, and advocacy for women in the creative arts. She has been recognized with prestigious awards including the 2018 Albert H. Maggs Award and the 2016 Judith Lang Zaimont Prize. Her compositions have been performed globally by ensembles like the Atlanta Opera, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Doric String Quartet.
Teaching responsibilities include courses such as CMPN1612 (New Music New Thinking), CMPN3620 (Advanced Orchestration), and Honours supervision. She is a represented artist with the Australian Music Centre and serves on the board of the Music Arranger's Guild of Australia. Professional affiliations include Fellow status with the UK's Higher Education Academy.
