Natalie Hudson-Smith, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Saint Peter's University. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry at The College of William and Mary, followed by a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, where she studied nanoparticle impacts on the environment and bacteria. As an IRACDA scholar at Stony Brook University, she expanded her expertise in chemical pedagogy and analytical chemistry.
- Current Role: Assistant Professor of Chemistry
- Research Focus: Nanomaterials, environmental toxicity, chemical education
- Teaching: General Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Instrumental Analysis
Her work bridges environmental chemistry and science communication, including educational tools like NanoAdventure, a multilingual game for nanotechnology outreach. She also develops hands-on activities to demystify advanced analytical techniques for students and the public.
Recent publications highlight her research on:
- Mechanisms of bacterial resistance to metal nanomaterials
- Redesigning nanoparticles to minimize environmental impact
- Applications of nanomaterials in agriculture and toxicity assessment
- Innovations in chemical education pedagogy
