Dr. Natalia Romanova is an Adjunct Professor (part-time) at George Washington University's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) Program. She holds a PhD in Second Language Acquisition from the University of Maryland, College Park, along with advanced degrees in translation and TESOL from Moscow's Institute of Foreign Languages. Her roles include teaching international graduate students research writing, curriculum development for federal language programs with JTG, Inc., and serving as a content expert for U.S. government agencies.
Her research focuses on cognitive mechanisms in second language grammar processing, advanced literacy development, and innovative instructional strategies such as flipped classrooms. Notable contributions include studies on Russian SLA agreement systems and team-based learning in EAP contexts. She has received prestigious teaching awards including the M. Bender Award (2014) and ADT recognition since 2014. Dr. Romanova has also held roles at Georgetown University, the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC), and the U.S. Department of State.
Her work integrates cutting-edge technology in language education and emphasizes professional development for educators. Recent activities include co-chairing professional development for WATESOL and keynote speaking at international forums like the Kazakh-American Higher Education Conference (2017).
