Nasos Kaskani is a barrister and academic at the University of Melbourne Law School, holding the position of Research Fellow (formally designated as Senior Fellow) since 2008. He practices primarily in taxation and revenue law, appearing before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Federal Court, and Supreme Court on matters including GST, Director Penalty Notices, Payroll Tax, and Land Tax, representing both taxpayers and the Commissioner of Taxation.
His research and teaching interests center on tax law and commercial litigation, with expertise spanning insolvency, defamation, insurance disputes, property law, contractual and tortious claims, directors' duties, trade practices, and environmental law. He has lectured in the Melbourne Law Masters program since 2008, teaching specialized subjects such as "Tax Effective Writing: Written Advocacy" and "Corporate Tax A" (Laws70024).
Prior to his academic appointment, Kaskani practiced as a solicitor at Corrs Chambers Westgarth for over 10 years, dedicating 8 years to the Tax Group where he handled complex litigation for multinational corporations before the Federal Court and advised on ATO audits, privilege claims, and administrative law matters.
