Narmin Ismayilova is an ONGC Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford. She earned her PhD (2023) from the University of Birmingham, focusing on the Kura-Araxes Culture (KAC) in Azerbaijan and its regional context in the Caucasus. Her project established the first comprehensive English-language database (Gazetteer) of KAC sites in Azerbaijan during the Early Bronze Age.

Her research explores social organization, cultural identity, and diversity within KAC communities through analyses of settlement landscapes, building traditions, and mortuary practices. She emphasizes cross-cultural comparisons between the Caucasus and adjacent regions, alongside Anthropological Archaeology, Archaeological Theory, and Nationalistic trends in archaeology of the South Caucasus. She also focuses on Landscapes, Objects, and Assemblages.
Narmin founded and chairs the Caucasus Through Time Network, fostering collaborative research among Caucasus scholars. Her current work with the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit aims to refine the chronology of KAC communities in Azerbaijan and develop a Digital Gazetteer of KAC sites across the Caucasus and beyond.
