Narelle Cox is an Associate Professor (Research) at the School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, and a key member of the Holland Respiratory Care Group at Alfred Health. She is currently an NHMRC Emerging Leader Fellow, reflecting her leadership in respiratory research. Her work spans across academic, clinical, and policy domains, with strong affiliations to national and international respiratory societies.

Her work emphasizes implementation science, ensuring that evidence-based interventions are effectively integrated into real-world healthcare settings.
Recent publications highlight trends in pulmonary rehabilitation delivery (home vs. hospital), personalized rehabilitation approaches, referral systems from primary care, and standardized assessment methods like the 6-minute walk test. Narelle Cox actively supervises higher degree research (HDR) students and has served as a supervisor and chief investigator on multiple national and international projects. She leads the project 'Improving access to non-pharmacological treatment in chronic respiratory disease' and is a chief investigator on several major clinical trials, including the REBUILD-SM trial and the TAPPET trial. She has received funding from NHMRC and other national bodies, supporting her work in implementation and digital health interventions.
She is embedded in the Holland Respiratory Care Group, a leading research team in respiratory rehabilitation, and collaborates extensively with institutions in Australia and abroad. Her leadership roles include chairing the American Thoracic Society Scientific Assembly on Pulmonary Rehabilitation Planning Committee and previously co-chairing the Research Subcommittee of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
