Professor Jennifer Alison is a Professor of Respiratory Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney’s Sydney School of Health Sciences and holds a concurrent role as Professor Allied Health (Chronic Diseases) at Sydney Local Health District. Her expertise lies in pulmonary rehabilitation, exercise physiology, and chronic lung disease management. She leads two major research groups: the Living Well with Chronic Disease and Disability Research Group and the Respiratory and Cardiac Rehabilitation and Management (ResCaRM) Research Group.

Her research focuses on improving exercise capacity and quality of life for individuals with COPD, cystic fibrosis, and interstitial lung diseases. She has pioneered innovations like telerehabilitation and culturally safe care for Indigenous populations. Professor Alison has authored over 165 peer-reviewed articles and secured 62 research grants, including multiple NHMRC grants. She has supervised 22 PhD/Masters completions and currently mentors 8 PhD students.
Notable achievements include the Lung Foundation Australia’s Inaugural Lung Health Legends Award (2020) and Fellowships from the European Respiratory Society and Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand.
