Narayanan Subramanian is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Texas at Tyler, serving as the Faculty Fellow for Service Learning at the Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation. He leads the Capstone Project course, emphasizing industry collaboration, and has participated in the US Air Force Visiting Faculty Research Program (2011–2012).
Dr. Subramanian holds multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Dallas, an M.S. from Louisiana State University, and additional engineering qualifications from institutions in India. His teaching focuses on Cyber-Security and Software Engineering, while his research explores system metrics, process improvements, and security enhancements for industrial systems like SCADA.
He co-founded the International Workshop on System/Software Architectures (2002) and chaired ten editions. His awards include the 2008 Outstanding Professor of the Year by UT Tyler students. Notably, he is a trained cyber-forensic instructor for law enforcement first responders.
Research trends in his publications span cybersecurity education, software architecture metrics, and SCADA system security, with a focus on process-oriented methodologies and interdisciplinary applications.
He has advised numerous projects through the Capstone course and contributed to grants in systems engineering and educational curriculum design. His work bridges academia and industry, emphasizing practical applications of software engineering principles.
