Naoya Takeda is a Professor at Waseda University's School of Advanced Science and Engineering, Department of Life Science and Medical Bioscience. He holds a Doctor of Engineering from The University of Tokyo and an MBA in Technology Management from Waseda University. His research focuses on biomaterials, functional polymers, and regenerative medicine with emphasis on cell culture substrates and separation techniques.
- Doctor of Engineering, The University of Tokyo (1998)
- Master of Business Administration in Technology Management, Waseda University
- Bachelor of Engineering, The University of Tokyo (1993)
Takeda's work explores stimuli-responsive materials for biomedical applications, including thermoresponsive hydrogels, photoresponsive fiber scaffolds, and microfluidic cell manipulation systems. His team develops 3D cell culture platforms and temperature-controlled separation materials to advance regenerative therapies.
His recent publications highlight trends in biomaterials engineering with applications in intestinal tissue modeling, muscle regeneration, and smart cell culture substrates. The studies employ electrospinning, ATRP polymerization, and microfluidics to create functional nanobioscience solutions.
- Waseda University Teaching Award (2022, 2018, 2017, 2014)
- Highlight Paper Awards (2021, 2019, 2017)
- Best Poster Award at Bio4Apps (2017)
- Shorai Foundation Grant (2009)
Takeda collaborates with Tokyo Women's Medical University (part-time lecturer) and Tokyo Medical and Dental University on biomedical device development. His work bridges materials science and clinical applications through interdisciplinary projects in cell sheet engineering and intelligent biointerfaces.
