Naomi Perry is a Senior Lecturer and Interim Art Psychotherapy Course Lead at the School of Health and Social Care, Sheffield Hallam University. She works part-time and co-leads the Art Therapy Northern Programme with Caroline Rhodes. Her practice emphasizes co-production and the healing power of play, integrating these principles into her teaching and clinical work. Perry has over a decade of experience in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and co-founded the Community Interest Company 'Arts Transform.'
Education & Background: Before becoming an Art Psychotherapist, Perry worked in social housing for many years. She holds a Master's degree in Art Psychotherapy Practice.
Teaching: Teaches modules including Theoretical Approaches to Art Therapy, Creative Studios, Evaluating Complexities in Practice, and Thresholds. Engages with students across all program stages but focuses primarily on first-year instruction.
Research & Practice: Specializes in working with hard-to-reach populations, particularly children, families, and adults. Her approach prioritizes co-production between clients and therapists. She maintains a small clinical practice in educational settings and private work.
Affiliations: Full Member of the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT) and registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). Active in the Health Research Institute.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Health Research Institute and directs 'Arts Transform,' a community initiative promoting therapeutic arts.
