Naomi Niskala

Naomi Niskala is an Associate Professor of Music at Susquehanna University, affiliated with the Department of Music. She specializes in piano performance, music theory, and chamber music. Her professional engagements include solo and collaborative performances across Europe, Asia, and North America with groups like Spectrum Concerts Berlin and Trio Kisosen.

Education: AD from Yale University, DMA and MM from SUNY Stony Brook, and BM from New England Conservatory of Music. Her teachers include Gilbert Kalish, Claude Frank, Patricia Zander, and Maria Luisa Faini.

Research focuses on classical piano repertoire, with notable recordings of Robert Helps and Ursula Mamlok’s works for Albany, Naxos, and Bridge Records. Highlights include the 2007 ClassicsToday award-winning Robert Helps piano discs and recent performances at Davies Symphony Hall, Berlin Philharmonie, and Carnegie Hall.

Awards include recognition for her discography. Current activities include recordings of Brahms chamber music for Naxos and international recitals in Japan, South Korea, and across the US.
