Naomi Greyser is an Associate Professor at the University of Iowa, with affiliations in American Studies, English, and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies. She serves as Executive Director of POROI (Project on Rhetoric of Inquiry) and engages in research bridging literary studies, affect theory, and institutional critique.
Her research areas include Writing and Inquiry, University Studies, 19th-Century US Cultures, Intersectional Cultural Aesthetics, Cultural Geography, and Emotion-Cognition Studies. Her book On Sympathetic Grounds (Oxford UP, 2017) explores affective geographies through race and gender lenses, while her current projects Unblocked and Blocked (University of Chicago Press) analyze institutional structures shaping academic creativity and exclusion.

Leadership: Greyser directs POROI and supports faculty development through the NCFDD (National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity). Her ethnographic fieldwork with over 100 academic writers informs her collaborative approach to knowledge creation.
