Naoko Abe

Naoko Abe is a Research Associate at the University of Sydney with a doctorate in sociology from EHESS. Her interdisciplinary research bridges movement analysis, sociology, and technology, with particular focus on applications in robotics and urban environments. She was awarded the prestigious FFJ/Renault Chair in 2016.

Her research examines body movement through Laban kinetography, trust dynamics in human-technology interactions, and sociocultural factors in urban transportation systems. Current investigations explore autonomous vehicle acceptance through comparative France-Japan studies.

Dr. Abe has contributed to seminars at the France-Japan Foundation of EHESS and maintains research affiliations with Axis 4. Her academic background includes training at Paris V University and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
