University of Arkansas for Medical Sciencesمعرفی
Nandini Mukherjee, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor at the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms linked to allergic diseases, gene-environment interactions, and the developmental origins of health outcomes. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology (2018, University of Memphis), an M.Sc. in Biotechnology (2012, Jadavpur University), and a B.Sc. in Botany (2009, Delhi University).
Her work examines how in utero exposures, such as maternal smoking and environmental toxins, influence DNA methylation patterns and allergic outcomes later in life. She has conducted extensive studies using longitudinal birth cohorts, including the Isle of Wight study, to investigate transgenerational effects of prenatal exposures and their impact on eczema, asthma, and lung function.
Key research themes include:
- Epigenetic mediation of breastfeeding effects on eczema
- Sex-specific developmental trajectories of allergies
- Metabolomic and toxicological influences on childhood health
Her recent articles highlight breakthroughs in understanding DNA methylation's role in congenital heart disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and BMI trajectories. She collaborates internationally on projects bridging epigenetics and public health policy.
