Dr. Nandana Chakinala is a Research Fellow at the School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, where she joined in October 2024. Her current research focuses on developing continuous flow processes for late-stage commercialization of Lowcat technology within the iPRD group.
Her educational qualifications include:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering from Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India
- Professional Doctorate in Engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology, The Netherlands
- M.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, India
- B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, India
Dr. Chakinala specializes in sustainable chemical processes and environmental protection, with core expertise in catalysis, biomass conversion, and wastewater treatment. Her work integrates material synthesis, waste-to-energy solutions, and computational chemical engineering to advance Sustainable Development Goals for clean water, energy, and climate action. She emphasizes process design and intensification for scalable industrial applications.
Her scientific recognition includes:
- Commonwealth Professional Fellowship (2023) hosted at University of Strathclyde
With seven years in academia—including prior service as Assistant Professor at Manipal University Jaipur—and two years in industry at Reliance Industries Limited, she combines practical polyethylene plant experience with academic research. She maintains active professional engagement through life memberships in the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Catalysis Society of India, and Materials Research Society of India, plus professional membership in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
