His research focuses on green infrastructure systems such as street trees, rain gardens, and green roofs. Key contributions include designing NYC's billion-dollar rain garden program during his 11-year tenure at the NYC Parks Department. Current work emphasizes urban stormwater management, sustainable drainage systems, and ecological engineering solutions for urban environments.
His publications analyze hydrological performance of green infrastructure, nutrient pollution mitigation, and adaptive water management systems. Notable studies investigate salt dynamics in bioswales and nitrogen cycling in urban soils.
Dr. Shetty has collaborated with NYC Parks Department on large-scale green infrastructure projects and contributed to interdisciplinary research spanning environmental chemistry, biogeochemistry, and hydraulic modeling.
