Nancy Rhodes

Nancy Rhodes is a Professor in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at Michigan State University's College of Communication Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on persuasion, social influence, and health communication, examining how social norms affect cognitive processing of health-risk messages related to smoking, drinking, and risky driving.

She earned her Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Texas A&M University (1991), served at IUPUI and Ohio State University prior to joining MSU in 2016, and contributes to journals like Communication Research and Psychology of Popular Media (where she serves as associate editor). Her work connects through the Social Cognition and Media Psychology (SCAMP) Lab and Health and Risk Communication Center, emphasizing practical applications in health intervention strategies.
