Nancy Ortins Savage is the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of New Haven, where she also holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical & Biomedical Engineering, Tagliatela College of Engineering. Her academic career includes roles as Associate Dean, Department Chair, and faculty member since 2005. She earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry from The Ohio State University and a B.S. in Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, with postdoctoral research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
Dr. Savage’s research focuses on nanomaterials, gas sensors, and catalytic systems. She has pioneered interdisciplinary initiatives such as the University Interdisciplinary Collaborative and contributed to educational reforms, including flipped classroom models and core curriculum innovation. Her leadership has driven program reviews, academic integrity policies, and faculty diversity initiatives.
Her publications span nanotechnology, catalysis, and STEM education. Awards include the University of New Haven 'Excellence in Service' Award (2013) and a Connecticut Quality Improvement Silver Prize (2008) for educational outreach programs.
