Nancy Goodyear is an Associate Professor and Program Director of the Medical Laboratory Science Program at the Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts Lowell. She is affiliated with the Department of Biomedical & Nutritional Sciences and the Center for Pathogen Research & Training (CPRT). Her research focuses on evaluating safer disinfection methods, including green disinfectants, steam vapor systems, and plant-derived antimicrobial agents. She emphasizes real-world applications, studying user errors in disinfection practices and the impact of cleaning materials.
Education includes a BA and Medical Laboratory Technology training from Virginia Intermont College, followed by a Ph.D. in Clinical Laboratory Science from The Catholic University of America. She has received notable awards such as the Department Teaching Excellence Award (2012) and induction into Sigma Xi (2010).
Her research has been supported by grants like the TURI Academic Research Grant and UML Seed Grant, focusing on disinfectant efficacy, infection control, and home healthcare safety.
