Gregory Morose, Sc.D., is a Researcher and Research Manager at the Toxics Use Reduction Institute (TURI) within the University of Massachusetts Lowell, affiliated with the SWIMMER program. He holds a Sc.D. in Cleaner Production (2008), M.Sc. in Environmental Studies (2002), M.B.A. in Business Administration (1992), and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1986), all from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. His work focuses on evaluating safer alternatives to toxic chemicals and materials in products and manufacturing processes, with expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA) and sustainable design.
Key research interests include green chemistry, solvent design, and reducing toxic chemical exposure. He has developed an alternatives assessment methodology addressing environmental, health, technical, and financial factors for companies transitioning to safer materials. His funded projects involve evaluating toxic substances like mercury, lead, phthalates, and nanomaterials, supported by industry, governments, and international organizations such as the United Nations.
Greg has conducted LCA studies for Fortune 500 companies using tools like GaBi and SimaPro, and taught LCA and sustainable design at UMass Lowell and Tufts University. He is also an ASQ certified Six Sigma Black Belt. His contributions span multidisciplinary collaborations, emphasizing practical solutions for environmental and health safety.
