Nancy C. Guilloteau

Nancy C. Guilloteau is an Associate Professor of Instruction and French Language Program Director in the Department of French and Italian at the University of Texas at Austin, within the College of Liberal Arts. She holds a Ph.D. in French Linguistics with a concentration in Second Language Acquisition (1997) from UT Austin, alongside an M.A. (1991) and B.A. (1988) in French. Her professional roles include overseeing curriculum development for French language programs and managing study abroad initiatives like the Lyon Summer Program.

Her research focuses on innovative language pedagogy, particularly in online curriculum design and proficiency-based instruction. She has led the creation of open-access resources such as Enhancing French Skills and the Français interactif textbook, which integrate multimedia and authentic cultural materials. These projects have garnered awards including the CALICO Gold Award and NEH recognition.

Guilloteau has taught numerous French language courses since 1998, including hybrid/blended formats. Her service contributions span departmental leadership, faculty training workshops for K-12 educators, and roles on university committees like the Language Policy Advisory Committee. She actively participates in professional organizations such as AATF, ACTFL, and AAUSC.
