Nancy Budwig is a Professor of Psychology at Clark University, where she has been since 1986. She served as Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies/Research (2002-2016) and was a Senior Fellow at the American Association of Colleges and Universities (2016-2020). She holds a B.A. from Vassar College (1979) and a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (1986).
Her research focuses on knowledge development across formal/informal learning contexts, particularly transitions from high school to college, language socialization in early childhood, and applying learning science to higher education organizational change. She employs qualitative methodologies to study communities of practice and meaning-making processes.
Recent works analyze mentorship experiences during academic transitions and advocate for evidence-based educational design.
