Namson Lau

Dr. Namson Lau is a Senior Lecturer at UNSW Sydney, a Senior Endocrinologist & Consultant at Liverpool Hospital, and a Senior Fellow with the Liverpool Diabetes Collaboration at Ingham Institute of Applied Medical Research. His clinical expertise spans cardio-metabolic medicine, complex obesity management, diabetes in hospital settings, diabetic foot diseases, and general endocrinology.

Dr. Lau's research focuses on diabetic foot disease, in-patient hyperglycaemia management, cardio-metabolic risk assessment, and novel therapies for diabetes complications. He investigates the microbiome in diabetic foot infections, protein leverage in appetite regulation, and clinical outcomes in diabetes care. His work bridges clinical practice with translational research through collaborations at Ingham Institute.

Recent research trends include: exploring the gut microbiota's role in type 2 diabetes mellitus (2025), analyzing CBD's impact on exercise physiology and stress responses (2024), and examining cardio-metabolic risk factors in diabetic foot disease cohorts (2021-2024). His 2017 studies on denosumab in Charcot neuroarthropathy and SGLT2 inhibitors in diabetic cardiomyopathy demonstrate long-term engagement with metabolic complications.
