Professor Nahla Abdo is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at York University's Faculty of Graduate Studies. Her work bridges settler colonialism, indigenous studies, and anti-colonial feminism, with a focus on the intersectionality of gender, race, class, and the state in Palestine and North America (Turtle Island).
- Employing oral history and narrative analysis, she amplifies colonized and marginalized women's voices.
- Her research critiques genocide, displacement, and racial capitalism in settler-colonial states.
Recent publications examine Gaza's genocide, transnational racialization, and decolonial memory. Awards include the National Medal of Excellence for Feminist Scholarship (2025) and the Marston La-France Research Award (2014-15). She is on the Canadian Museum of Human Rights Advisory Board (2023-present) and accepts graduate students researching anti-colonialism and indigenous women’s struggles.
