Nahla Abdo

Professor Nahla Abdo is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at York University's Faculty of Graduate Studies. Her work bridges settler colonialism, indigenous studies, and anti-colonial feminism, with a focus on the intersectionality of gender, race, class, and the state in Palestine and North America (Turtle Island).

• Employing oral history and narrative analysis, she amplifies colonized and marginalized women's voices.
• Her research critiques genocide, displacement, and racial capitalism in settler-colonial states.

Recent publications examine Gaza's genocide, transnational racialization, and decolonial memory. Awards include the National Medal of Excellence for Feminist Scholarship (2025) and the Marston La-France Research Award (2014-15). She is on the Canadian Museum of Human Rights Advisory Board (2023-present) and accepts graduate students researching anti-colonialism and indigenous women’s struggles.
