Nahid Siamdoust

Nahid Siamdoust is an Assistant Professor in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin, jointly appointed in Middle Eastern Studies (MES) and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures (MELC). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Oxford and has previously taught at Oxford, NYU, Yale, and Harvard.

Her research focuses on:

• Cultural and political dynamics in the Middle East, especially Iran
• Transnational media, social media, and disinformation
• Poetic worldmakings, joy, and women's roles in Iranian discourses
• Global media flows as part of the Provost’s Cluster in Global Media Flows and (Dis)Information

She received prestigious awards for her doctoral work, including the Malcolm H. Kerr dissertation prize and BRISMES's Douglas Leigh Memorial prize. Her writings appear in The New York Times, Foreign Policy, and Der Spiegel, and she frequently contributes to international media outlets.
