Nahal Mavaddat is an Associate Professor and Head of Discipline in General Practice at the UWA Medical School. She also serves as the Graduate Research Coordinator for the School of Medicine and Lead of the UWA Medical Humanities Network. Her academic journey includes a PhD in Neuropsychology from the University of Cambridge, focusing on decision-making deficits in patients post-anterior communicating artery aneurysm rupture.
Research interests span wellbeing, chronic pain, mental health in primary care, and medical humanities. She has held roles including NIHR Walport Clinical Lecturer at Cambridge and Research Fellowships at the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre.
Her articles explore topics like time-restricted eating behaviors, healthcare worker mental health during the pandemic, and metabolic changes in dietary interventions. Key grants include Telethon funding for pediatric care studies and WUN projects on health professional education. She has contributed to over 44 research outputs and multiple grants totaling millions in funding.
