Naeem Ramzan

Prof. Naeem Ramzan is a Full Professor of Computing Engineering at the University of the West of Scotland (UWS), serving as Chair of Affective and Human Computing for the Smart Environment Research Centre and Co-lead of the Visual Communication Cluster in AVCN. He leads interdisciplinary research in video processing, multimedia systems, IoT, and eHealth.

Education:

• M.Sc. in Telecommunication (University of Brest, France, 2004)
• Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering (Queen Mary University of London, 2008)

Research Interests:

• Video quality evaluation and standards (MPEG, VQEG)
• Brain-inspired multi-modal cognitive systems
• eHealth applications and connected health solutions
• AI-driven fall detection and physiological signal analysis

• STARS Award (2014, 2016) for research excellence at UWS
• Contribution Reward (2009, 2011) for teaching/research at Queen Mary
