معرفی
Professor Nadya Mason is a distinguished Condensed Matter experimentalist at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she explores electron behavior in low-dimensional correlated materials. As the Rosalyn Sussman Yalow Professor and founding director of the Illinois Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), her work bridges quantum computing, spintronics, and nanotechnology. Affiliated with the Materials Research Laboratory and Holonyak Micro and Nanotechnology Lab, she has pioneered studies on topological insulators, graphene, and superconducting hybrid systems.
- Harvard University BA in Physics (1995)
- Stanford University PhD in Physics (2001)
Her research delves into quantum electronic transport in 1D/2D materials like graphene and topological insulators, focusing on phenomena such as Luttinger liquids, Andreev bound states, and proximity-induced magnetoresistance. Recent articles highlight her work on THz spectroscopy, strain-engineered superlattices, and 3D topological Josephson junctions.
Professor Mason has received prestigious accolades including NSF CAREER Award, Maria Goeppert Mayer Award, and election to National Academy of Sciences. She served as an APS Fellow and chaired the APS Committee on Minorities. Her teaching excellence in courses like PHYS 496 has been recognized by student rankings.
Key collaborations include research with Matthew Gilbert on quantum transport, Axel Hoffmann on magnetic proximity effects, and Charles Marcus during her Harvard fellowship. Current projects examine hybrid quantum architectures and collective phenomena in superconducting arrays, supported by major grants and institutional partnerships.
