Nadish de Silva is an Assistant Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in the Department of Mathematics within the Faculty of Science at Simon Fraser University. His research bridges foundational concepts in quantum computing, mathematical structures, and computational theory. Previously, he held positions at the University of Cambridge (Centre for Quantum Information and Foundations), UCL, and UC Berkeley's Simons Institute.
Education:
- DPhil in Computer Science, University of Oxford (2015)
- MSc in Mathematics, University of Toronto
- BSc in Mathematics and Physics, University of Toronto
Research Focus: His work explores structural origins of computational advantages in quantum/postclassical systems, integrating operator algebras, noncommutative geometry, and complexity theory. Key applications include quantum communication, contextuality in computation, and data mathematics.
Honors and Awards:
- Tier 2 Canada Research Chair
- Clarendon Scholarship (University of Oxford)
- NSERC Undergraduate Research Award
Teaching: Scheduled to instruct MATH 157 (Calculus I for Social Sciences) in Fall 2025. Past affiliations include King’s College Cambridge and Merton College Oxford as a graduate member.
