Nadine Van Wyk is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Physical Education at Mount Royal University, serving as the Physical Literacy Coordinator. She holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, along with an MEd from the University of Lethbridge and a BA from the University of Calgary. Her research focuses on innovative program design and delivery of physical literacy, particularly through collaborations with organizations like Vivo for Healthier Generations, the Calgary Catholic School Board, and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario.
Her academic contributions include work on the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy and a 7-year longitudinal study (4in1) through Vivo. She has presented at conferences such as the Parent Link Provincial Network Conference and the Alberta Recreation Parks Association Conference, emphasizing community engagement and early childhood health initiatives.
Key areas of expertise include curriculum design, assessment frameworks, and promoting physical literacy across all life stages. Her community service includes motor proficiency testing and leadership roles in the Physical Literacy and You (PLAY) group and Alberta Parks and Recreation Association committees.
