Her recent work shows increasing focus on transgenerational trauma, particularly among descendants of Holocaust survivors and Khmer Rouge regime victims.
Dr. Stammel has been actively involved in several major research initiatives including the I-REACH consortium (Internet based REfugee mentAl healtH Care), studies on reconciliation processes after trauma, and investigations of mental health in conflict-affected populations across multiple continents. She has demonstrated methodological versatility through both quantitative and qualitative research designs, with particular expertise in questionnaire development and validation for cross-cultural contexts.
