Dr. Carina Heeke serves as an Affiliated Scientist at the Division of Clinical Psychological Intervention within the Department of Education and Psychology. A visiting researcher from Peru since January 2025, she contributes to the division's transnational research initiatives focusing on culturally adapted psychological interventions and trauma-related disorders.
Her research spans transcultural clinical psychology, with emphasis on refugee mental health, psychotraumatology, and digital therapy delivery. Key areas include PTSD treatment for conflict-affected populations, depression assessment in transcultural contexts, and online intervention development for underserved groups like interpreters and refugees. She actively participates in projects examining mental health in transitional justice settings and culturally responsive care models.
As part of the division's collaborative framework, Dr. Heeke works alongside clinical psychologists and researchers on initiatives such as EXPLAIN (exploring explanatory models of psychological disorders across cultures) and I-REACH (internet-based refugee mental healthcare), supporting the team's mission to advance evidence-based, accessible psychological treatments through innovative research methodologies.
