معرفی
Dr. Nadine Mengis is a leading researcher at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, specializing in Earth system modeling, climate engineering, and carbon budget uncertainties. Her work bridges physical and biogeochemical climate dynamics, focusing on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR), climate policy, and science communication. She currently co-chairs the CDRmare research mission and contributes to WCRP Lighthouse activities.
- Education: PhD in Biogeochemical Modeling (2016, GEOMAR), M.Sc. in Climate Physics (2013), B.Sc. in Physics of the Earth System (2010).
Her research emphasizes non-CO2 forcing, overshoot scenarios, and moral implications of climate targets, with key contributions to CMIP7, GESAMP, and Emmy Noether Program. Recent articles analyze marine carbon removal frameworks, zero emissions commitment, and climate intervention policies.
Scientific Awards
- DFG Emmy Noether Grant (2021)
- Horizon Postdoctoral Fellowship (2017-2019)
- Concordia University Award (2017)
She advises national and international committees, including the German Youth Academy and Environmental Research Letters editorial board. Her UVic Earth System Model simulations and SCoMaE methodology advance climate uncertainty analysis.
