Nadine Knight

Nadine Knight is the Department Chair of Critical Race and Ethnic Studies and an Associate Professor of Literature at the College of the Holy Cross. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University and an A.B. from Princeton University. Her research examines how wars shape American narratives about oppression and victory, with a focus on Black representation in literature, film, and television. Key themes include historical memory ethics, exploitation of marginalized bodies, and visions of multicultural futures.

Her teaching emphasizes historical context, close reading, and argumentation across genres. Knight is active in professional organizations including MLA, MELUS, and the Popular Culture Association.

Her scholarly awards include the 2020 Choice Outstanding Academic Title designation for her contribution to Black Cultural Production After Civil Rights.
