Dr. Nadia Beider is a Research Fellow affiliated with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, specializing in the Sociology of Religion. Her work bridges religious change, antisemitism studies, Jewish education, and identity construction, with a focus on Europe and Jewish diaspora communities.
- Education: PhD in Jewish History and Contemporary Jewry (2022), MA in Contemporary Jewry (2014), BA in History (2006).
- Current Project: Examining religion and tolerance in contemporary Europe, particularly regarding attitudes toward strangers and minorities.
Her research explores religious residue (legacy of childhood religious socialization), secularization patterns, and religious polarization among South African Jews. She also investigates the interplay between antisemitism, Islamophobia, and tolerance, analyzing how (non)religion influences societal attitudes.
Recent work highlights trends in religious non-attachment across Europe and the economic integration of Jewish immigrants in Israel. She has presented at major conferences including the American Sociological Association and World Congress of Jewish Studies.
