Nada Matta is Assistant Professor in the Departments of Global Studies and Modern Languages and Sociology at Drexel University, where she also directs the Middle East and North Africa Studies (MENA) program. She holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from New York University and researches structural transformations and social change in the Middle East.
Her research examines:
- Impact of capitalist transformations on social movements
- Organizational dynamics of protest movements
- Gender and labor in revolutionary contexts
- State-capital-labor relations
Current book project analyzes class forces in the Egyptian Uprising of 2011. Teaching focuses on global power relations, social inequalities, and challenging Orientalist perspectives on the Middle East.
