Nada Ali

Nada Ali is a full-time Lecturer in Law at the School of Law, Gender and Media, part of SOAS, University of London. Her roles include membership in academic and research communities focused on international legal frameworks affecting developing nations. She holds a PhD from the University of East Anglia (2015), an LLM in Banking and Finance from the University of Nottingham (2001), and an LLB from the University of Leeds (2000).

Her research integrates international law, political science, and economics to analyze governance, democratization, and development in the Global South. Key themes include the impact of international institutions (e.g., ICC, UN) on states like Sudan, environmental law conflicts (e.g., Merowe Dam), and TWAIL perspectives on justice systems. Recent work addresses Sudan’s transition post-2019 Revolution with the Economic Research Forum (ERF).

Publications emphasize critical analyses of ICC efficacy, legal norms, and power dynamics in transitional states. Her work bridges legal theory with empirical studies, often employing interdisciplinary approaches to address systemic inequalities in international law.
