Dr. N. Benjamin Fredrick is a Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine and the Department of Public Health Sciences at Pennsylvania State University. He holds the Doctors Kienle Chair for Humane Medicine at the Doctors Kienle Center for Humanistic Medicine and has a joint appointment in the Department of Humanities at the Penn State College of Medicine. His research focuses on contact tracing, social determinants of health, global health, and health systems, with particular attention to disparities in healthcare access and pandemic response.
Dr. Fredrick’s education includes a Biology BS from Messiah College (1995), an MD from Penn State College of Medicine (2000), and a residency in Family Medicine at WellSpan York Hospital (2003). He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine since 2003.
His scientific awards include the Distinguished Educator Award (2022), Kienle Chair for Humane Medicine (2019), and Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2020). His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health equity and global partnerships.
Dr. Fredrick has led innovative global health education initiatives, emphasizing longitudinal relationships and team investment. His recent publications address pandemic response strategies, medication adherence in tuberculosis patients, and travel health guidelines.
