Mónica Vieira

Mónica Vieira is a Lecturer in the Chemical and Biomolecular Sciences Department at the School of Health (ESS) of the Polytechnic University of Porto (P.PORTO), Portugal. She serves as Sub-Director and holds leadership roles including President of the Pedagogical Council of ESS|P.PORTO and Coordinator of the Master's Degree in Biochemistry in Health. Her research is conducted at the Center of Translational Health and Medical Biotechnology Research (TBIO), and she collaborates with the i3S research institute in Porto.

Educated in Chemistry, she holds a PhD in Sustainable Chemistry. Her research focuses on developing detection methods for biomarkers related to neurological disorders and oxidative stress, as well as biosensor innovations for infectious diseases like COVID-19. She has authored/co-authored multiple publications in indexed journals and led funded research projects as Principal Investigator (PI).

Despite no specific awards listed, her contributions to medical biotechnology and sustainable chemistry highlight impactful research activity. She actively participates in pedagogical and administrative roles alongside her research commitments.
