Myrthe Coret-Bergstra

Myrthe Coret-Bergstra is a Lecturer-Researcher at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences, focusing on multilingualism in secondary education and healthcare training programs. She leads the Holi-Frysk project, collaborating with secondary schools to foster positive attitudes toward Frisian and multilingualism among educators and students. Her research bridges theoretical linguistics with applied educational contexts, particularly in minority language dynamics and child language acquisition.

Coret-Bergstra holds a PhD in Linguistics from Utrecht University (2020), with her dissertation exploring infinitival innovations in Frisian. Her work spans both empirical research and practical pedagogical development, including contributions to the Dutch Teacher Training program at vocational education institutions.

Her research interests include multilingual education, Frisian language studies, language contact phenomena, and the cognitive aspects of language learning in children. She has published in journals like Journal of Child Language and Linguistics in the Netherlands, focusing on speaker influence in word learning, Frisian grammatical structures, and sociolinguistic challenges faced by minority languages.
