Albert Walsweer

Dr. Albert Walsweer is a Lecturer in Frisian language and culture in education at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences since January 2025. He has been affiliated with the university since 2000, initially as a trainer/advisor at ECNO and later as a researcher across various groups. His research focuses on multilingualism, curriculum design, and policy implementation, particularly through the Province of Friesland’s Taalplan Frysk 2030 initiative. He holds a Master’s in Special Education (UVA, 1995) and a PhD in Arts from the University of Groningen (2015). Since 2017, he has supervised Master’s students in Pedagogy, guiding their graduation research. His work emphasizes dialogue-based approaches to education and the role of small Frisian primary schools in language preservation.

Key professional roles include past experiences as a classroom teacher, educational consultant, and school principal in both rural Friesland and Amsterdam. His research spans two primary areas: policy and implementation at macro/meso levels, and practice-oriented school-based research at meso/micro levels.
