Myriam AIT-AOUDIA

Myriam AIT-AOUDIA is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Picardie Jules Verne (UPJV), where she has held a permanent academic position and currently serves as Director of the Department since 2020. She is actively involved in research, teaching, and academic governance, including membership in the Management Council of the UFR of Law and Political Science. Previously, she held academic and coordination roles at IEP Bordeaux, demonstrating sustained engagement in French political science academia.

Her research focuses on democratic and authoritarian regimes, with a regional specialization in North Africa, particularly Algeria. Key themes include militant democracy, partisan pluralism, Islamist parties, political crises, and democratic transitions. She employs sociological and comparative methodologies to analyze political mobilization, party formation, and regime change. Her work bridges political theory, constitutional law, and empirical analysis of political movements.

The most recent publications reflect a consistent trajectory in analyzing political transitions in Algeria, the role of Islamist parties, and the dynamics of political participation in post-authoritarian contexts. Her work appears in leading French and international journals such as Party Politics, Politix, and Critique internationale, often combining historical depth with sociological insight. She frequently collaborates with scholars like Alia Gana, Antoine Roger, and Mounia Bennani-Chraïbi.

She has received research funding as a core researcher in the ERC-Advanced Grant project Tarica on North African political transformations. She co-supervises PhD theses on topics such as disability movements and elite relations in Algeria, contributing to academic training and mentorship. Her editorial work includes coordinating special issues on democracies and authoritarianisms and editing collective volumes.
