Myra Tawfik is a Professor and the inaugural Don Rodzik Family Chair in Law and Entrepreneurship at the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law. Her role includes leading initiatives at the EPICentre (Entrepreneurship, Partnerships, Innovation, and Commercialization Hub) focused on intellectual property (IP) strategy and innovation policy. She holds the title of Distinguished University Professor, recognizing her contributions to research and academic leadership.
Her research interests span intellectual property law, copyright reform, international trade law, and entrepreneurship support. Notable work includes submissions to Canadian government consultations on AI and IoT copyright frameworks, studies on gender equity in IP ownership, and historical analyses of Canadian copyright law. She co-founded the Law, Technology and Entrepreneurship Clinic, providing legal support to startups while training law students.
Key professional roles include serving on provincial panels for IP commercialization and contributing to the development of the NextGen CTO Program. Awards include the 2019 Tech Researcher of the Year from the WEtech Alliance. Her work bridges academic research with practical applications in innovation ecosystems, emphasizing IP literacy and equitable access to legal frameworks for entrepreneurs.
