Dr. Myra Rhoden is a Professor at the University of West Georgia, affiliated with the School of Visual and Performing Arts within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She conducts the Symphonic Band and teaches graduate/undergraduate courses in Music Education. A retired high school band director with 30 years of experience, she founded the Athena Music and Leadership program (AthenaCamp.com), fostering leadership skills through music for girls. She serves as a guest conductor for honor bands nationally and internationally, and has presented at The Midwest Clinic and major conferences.

Her research focuses on music education leadership, with a book published by GIA Publications. Awards include the NAfME 2018 National Band Director of the Year and election to the American Bandmasters Association (2023). She collaborates with military bands like the U.S. Air Force Band and serves as an educational clinician with Conn Selmer.
