Myra Hughey is Assistant Professor of Biology on the Mary Clark Rockefeller Chair at Vassar College, where she has taught since 2018. She holds a B.S. from Loyola University New Orleans and a Ph.D. from Boston University.
Her research investigates amphibian skin microbiomes, disease resistance mechanisms, and ecological adaptations. Studies focus on how environmental factors like diet, salinity, and colonization history impact host-pathogen interactions in species such as spring peepers and treefrogs.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on microbiome dynamics in disease resilience, with experimental approaches spanning field ecology and laboratory validation. Methodological strengths include microbial community analysis and pathogen challenge experiments.
