Myla Quiben, PT, PhD, DPT, GCS, NCS, currently serves as the Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the College of Health Professions, University of North Texas Health Science Center. Her academic career includes leadership roles in geriatric physical therapy research and educational innovation.

Dr. Quiben’s work centers on aging health and wellness, frailty, and outcome measures. Key areas include functional performance in older adults, falls prevention, geriatric syndromes, and the application of simulation-based education in physical therapy training. She collaborates on interprofessional projects addressing neurologic pathologies and movement dysfunction.
Grants & Collaborations:
- PI: Correlation between Gait Characteristics and Frailty (2014-2018)
- Co-Investigator on projects involving Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and balance measurement technologies.
Professional Contributions:
Led the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy’s Movement System Task Force, developing diagnostic frameworks for balance dysfunction. Active in advancing the Geriatric 5Ms model in clinical practice.
