Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy

Dr. Muthukrishnan Sathyamoorthy is an Associate Dean, Professor, and Interim Chair in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at Tyler. He holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Madras, India) and a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution. With over 40 years of experience, he has served as Dean of Engineering at West Virginia University Institute of Technology and Chair of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering at Clarkson University. His research focuses on solid mechanics, nonlinear structural analysis, composite materials, and aircraft structures, with over 120 peer-reviewed publications. He has held roles at the University of Birmingham (UK) and the University of Calgary (Canada) before joining Clarkson in 1979.

He has also investigated mechanisms and practical engineering solutions for structural integrity.

Administrative Roles: As Associate Provost for Academic Affairs at UT Tyler (2006–present), he oversees academic policy and institutional accreditation. His leadership includes deanship at WVU Tech and department chair roles at Clarkson University.
