Murat Yolun is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at Adiyaman University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. His research focuses on Ottoman socio-medical history, military experiences during WWI, and pandemic epidemiology. He holds a PhD from Bogazici University (2013-2018), an MA from Adiyaman University (2010-2012), and a BA from Middle East Technical University (2004-2009).
His primary research explores historical epidemiology (Spanish Flu, COVID-19 parallels), Ottoman military sociology (soldier experiences, POW treatment), and nation-building in modern Turkey. Secondary interests include legal history of public health and cultural responses to pandemics.

Military history works analyze soldier mobility, veteran reintegration, and war captivity, while medical publications examine disease legislation and pandemic comparisons across Ottoman and modern contexts.
Yolun teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including History of Turkish Republic, Medieval European History, Local History, and Seljuk Civilization. As research advisor, he has coordinated projects cataloging Ottoman Red Crescent archives and studying Spanish Flu impacts.
