Murat C. Yıldız is an Associate Professor in the History Department at Skidmore College, specializing in the cultural and social history of the modern Middle East and late Ottoman Empire. His research explores intersections of sports, identity, gender, and intercommunal relations.
- Education: PhD in History from UCLA, BA from UC San Diego
His forthcoming book, The Ottoman World of Sports: Refashioning Bodies, Men, and Communities in Late Imperial Istanbul (University of Texas Press, 2025), analyzes how multi-confessional communities in Istanbul built shared sports culture. He is also working on a project about the Young Men’s Christian Association in the Ottoman Empire and Turkey.
